The free version has a reduced amount of data so users may see a sample of how the program operates. A subscription in-app purchase includes more text for key sections of the app including The Bullets section, The Reloading Section, and the Ballistics section.
The most important feature a subscription adds is the full set of current cartridge data for hundreds of cartridges.
Sierra Bullets LLC is constantly adding more data as new bullets are developed, the app will be updated as new data is available. Sierra Bullets has been producing hard cover manuals for over 50 years but using an app allows more functionality for the user.

Nothing huge
I have to admit after decades of Sierra manuals I was disappointed in this one. A number of new factory cartridges are missing although powders were updated. Sierra has always been the premier bullet maker but they have yet to make 17 and 9.3mm bullets
Useless on iPhone XS
The “back” buttons (upper left corner) are non-functional in nearly every section, on the iPhone XS. Total lack of QA, I guess.
To add insult to injury, after installing on my iPad to try and make use of it, I can not “recover my subscription” on the iPad (cryptic error every time.)
Update, after receiving feedback from Sierra..
I am using the same appleID on both devices. The second device I am trying to subscription-enable always errs with “An error was encountered trying to verify purchase.” If I try to do a purchase on the second device, it asks if I want to extend my existing subscription.
Update - after the 6.0.2 app update, I still can’t activate my subscription on my second device (iPad) and now I can’t restore my subscription on my iPhone. This app is not worth it. I’d much rather have the traditional printed manual.

The back button will be fixed soon, I temporary work around is to switch to landscape mode to hit the button.
For the subscription issue, both devices need to be using the same apple id or it cannot link the accounts.
Not an App
This isn’t an app but a sales demo, and a poor one at that. Nothing meaningful to see or test without a subscription which is $5 annually. Since I couldn’t access anything it’s hard to tell if the data I need is included or not, my preferred bullets or powders. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t. A lot of early complaints about UI, but this is the digital age.

The MacBook Retina display on the MacBook Pro and the new MacBook with a 12-inch Retina Display looks beautiful. However, because of the way Apple designed them, the effective MacBook screen resolution doesn’t show as much on the screen as user might expect from a screen with a 2304×1440 resolution. For example, the external monitor connected to our Mac in the screenshots is a 27-inch Dell P2715Q 4K monitor, with a native resolution of 3840×2160. OS X suggests a “default” resolution of a Retina-scaled 1920×1080 equivalent, and we have the choice to set other resolutions ranging from an equivalent of 1504×846 to the full 3840×2160.
